The Department of Special Education seeks a full-time nine-month Lecturer to function as a University Practicum Supervisor in the Learning and Behavior Specialist I (LBSI) Initial Special Education Teacher Preparation Program. Position responsibilities: The successful applicant will work closely with LBSI teacher candidates and cooperating teachers in practicum placements. The practicum supervisor provides guidance and feedback to the teacher candidates, evaluates assignments associated with the practicum setting, and ensures that all necessary activities are proceeding as scheduled in the practicum setting. The practicum supervisor must independently plan and organize a daily schedule of observations and meetings. He or she will teach one practicum seminar course each semester. The position requires reliable transportation to travel to schools throughout Champaign and surrounding counties.
Qualifications: Current LBSI certification, minimum 3 years of special education teaching experience, strong collaboration skills, ability to function with a high level of independence, and excellent written and oral communication skills required. Experience supervising student teachers and providing professional presentations preferred.
Salary and Starting Date: Rank and salary commensurate with experience. The proposed starting date is August 15, 2017.
