The Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks highly qualified candidates for two faculty positions. Outstanding candidates working in all subject areas relevant to aerospace engineering will be considered, with special emphasis in the areas of orbital mechanics, space systems, multi-functional composites, or additive manufacturing. Preference will be given to qualified candidates working in emerging areas of aerospace engineering whose scholarly activities have high impact.
While preference will be given to junior candidates, senior appointments will be considered for persons of outstanding achievement. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.

In addition, our faculty and students have access to world-class experimental and computational facilities located in on-campus multidisciplinary research centers, including the Aerodynamics Research Laboratory, the Coordinated Science Laboratory, the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. Candidates interested in becoming affiliated with one or more of these research centers should indicate so in their cover letter.
A doctoral degree is required, and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full consideration will be given to applications received by December 16, 2016. Applications received after that date may be considered until the positions are filled. Start date is expected in the fall of 2017; however, this is negotiable.
