Lecturer (Designer in Residence), Department of Landscape Architecture

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for the position of Lecturer.
We invite applications for to two, possibly three, positions for the 2017-18 academic year. The nine-month residencies provide a platform for emerging landscape architects and designers. Successful applicants may expand upon their pedagogical approaches and research agendas while simultaneously providing students a robust and challenging educational experience.
Qualifications include a record of professional practice, and a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design, or Art.
Applicants should submit work that demonstrates a critical approach to design, research, or teaching. Priority will be given to those experienced in generative studio processes and who engage in a creative research agenda.
Lecturers will each teach two courses per semester. These will include courses in areas such as design studio, digital representation, planting design, and site engineering. The residency will culminate in an exhibition of creative research and student work created during their time at the University of Illinois.
The Department of Landscape Architecture is a part of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, a highly accomplished and creative inter-disciplinary community of faculty and students. The Department shares Temple Buell Hall with the School of Architecture and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning; providing a uniquely collaborative environment between disciplines. This appointment will be a full-time, academic year (9 month) position. The expected start date is August 16, 2017.
