The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign provides supercomputing and advanced digital resources for the nation's scientific enterprise. NCSA is currently seeking a Data Center Facility Manager to oversee the operation of all facility systems and sub-systems related to the efficient operation of HPC systems at the National Petascale Computing Facility. The incumbent will also allocate and manage space and facilities needs for NPCF and the NCSA machine rooms and maintain a systems configuration database. Other responsibilities include coordinating the activities of University engineers, consultants, electricians, mechanics, plumbers and any related facility HPC vendors or service personnel.
· BA/BS degree in technology management, engineering or related field required (advanced degree preferred). Alternative degree fields may be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies).
· 3-5 years of building/facilities operational management.
· Proven ability to manage and allocate budgets and large-scale projects.
- Highly specialized knowledge of engineering, electrical, plumbing and HVAC/cooling systems.
· Understanding of data center configuration management strategies and techniques.
· Experience with HIPAA facilities requirements.
This is a regular academic professional position at NCSA and is an annually renewable, 12/12, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and start date will be as soon as possible after the close date of the search.
