The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) advances discovery and innovation through extreme-scale computing, science-enabling software, and the skills of our expert staff. NCSA is currently seeking one or more Assistant Storage Engineers to research, evaluate, deliver, install, configure and support storage-related products (hardware and software) and services to the NCSA community, which includes both internal and external users. On the job, the incumbent will have the opportunity to learn to perform all of the key responsibilities listed below. This position focuses on system administration and storage engineering of multiple Linux machines. The team has many tools that are used for these types of storage environments. Over the course of time the storage engineer will gain knowledge of storage products and will be able to do file system administration, IB fabric administration, parallel file system management within a LAN and WAN, and basic DBA tasks on multiple production resources including Blue Waters, XSEDE, and the Illinois Campus Program.
Required Education and Experience:
This is a regular academic professional position at NCSA and is an annually renewable, 12/12, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and start date will be as soon as possible after the close date of the search.
